Applause Theatrical Workshops is a performing arts program
that is designed to train young aspiring actors and actresses.
Through our various workshops, which focus on different skills,
each child can strive to achieve their own individual goals.
Applause offers classes in musical theater and dance, while
private coaching is available to students, as well.
Each musical theater class has at least three teachers, which
consist of a director, choreographer, and musical director.
The director focuses on scene study, improvisation, and theater
games while the choreographer concentrates on specific dance
technique and teaches the students to break down dance combinations.
The
musical director works on individual vocal technique as well
as shaping the sound of the ensemble. Vocal projection, harmonies,
and diction are just a few of the skills that are worked on
throughout the semester.
Every musical theater class devotes part of each session to a rigorous rehearsal process. Weekly class time is spent rehearsing different musical numbers and scenes throughout the show. As we get closer to showtime, rehearsals get more intense and the excitement starts to build.
Lights, Camera, Action...it's showtime! Here is where all of
your hard work pays off. Finally your cast moves from the rehearsal
space to the Off-Broadway theater and it is a feeling that you
will never forget.
Audiences
pack the theater throughout the weekend performances and agents,
managers, and casting directors attend the shows looking for
new talent to represent.
After the last show the students go out to celebrate their hard work at a cast party. Hugs and tears are always present, as each marvelous cast has to say goodbye until the next semester. It is an experience that will never be forgotten.
