Advanced Dance Company (8th-12th Grade)
The Applause Dance Company is a pre-professional training program for the aspiring young dancer. Whether your goal is to dance on Broadway in "Hamilton," or for Lady Gaga on tour, our diverse curriculum aims to develop the truly well-rounded performer. Each dancer in both Advanced and Intermediate programs is challenged with cutting-edge choreography in many dance styles, ranging from hip hop and funk to contemporary and commercial jazz. Jazz and ballet fundamentals are taught with skill and ease by our distinguished staff. The weekly three-hour intensives instill perseverance, responsibility, and discipline while giving each dancer the confidence and self-esteem needed to stand out from the crowd--or at that next big audition. The term will culminate in a dance showcase for a live audience! Please call or email to schedule your audition today.
It is strongly suggested that students also enroll in Jazz Technique to supplement their dance training.
Please note that the ADC show has 2 casts; cast placement will be determined closer to the start of the semester.
This class is by audition only and you may only register once accepted into the program. Please contact Applause at 212-717-0703 to schedule an audition.

- Make-Up Classes:
- There are no make-up classes for our weekend program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help. Please note a private lesson does not negate an absence.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- Cancellation Policy:
- There will be no refunds or credits given for our weekend dance program. In the case of injury, if we are notified with proof of the injury in the form of a doctor’s note that states that the student is unable to participate for the duration of the semester at least TWO WEEKS prior to the start of the semester, you may receive a credit for the following semester.
- Returned Checks:
- A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Student and Parent Conduct Expectations:
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence (including conduct or influence of a parent), in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Dress Code:
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class: all dancers should have athletic sneakers or jazz sneakers, preferably in black. White, silver, or gray accents are acceptable.
- Intermediate and Advanced dancers should bring soft jazz shoes (preferably black) to class.
- Students must wear all black to each class. Black yoga pants, black leggings, black tank tops, black t-shirts, and/or black leotards are acceptable.
- Performance Attire & Costume Fees:
- Certain base items (leotard, shoes, tights, etc.) will be needed for performances. A precise list will be given out during the semester prior to the show.
- You will be notified of any additional costume fee once the show is set and casting has been given out.
- Conflict Form:
- Parents must fill out a conflict form with their child’s scheduled conflicts and return it to Applause by the first rehearsal.
- Casting:
- Once auditions are completed and a dancer is accepted/registered, they become an official member of the Applause Dance Company. Each level—Junior, Intermediate, and Advanced—has multiple casts. The ADC Manager will determine which cast a dancer is placed in based on their skills, strengths, and overall development to ensure the best possible experience and success for every student. Casting decisions are final and will not be changed.
- Attendance Requirement:
- Students MUST attend tech week/production dates to be eligible for the program. Students may not miss more than 2 pre-planned classes or their role may be compromised.
