Class Policies
(Please read the policies that apply to your class):
Applause Dance Company:
- Make-Up Classes:
- There are no make-up classes for our weekend program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help. Please note a private lesson does not negate an absence.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- Cancellation Policy:
- There will be no refunds or credits given for our weekend dance program. In the case of injury, if we are notified with proof of the injury in the form of a doctor’s note that states that the student is unable to participate for the duration of the semester at least TWO WEEKS prior to the start of the semester, you may receive a credit for the following semester.
- Returned Checks:
- A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Student and Parent Conduct Expectations:
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence (including conduct or influence of a parent), in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Dress Code:
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class: all dancers should have athletic sneakers or jazz sneakers, preferably in black. White, silver, or gray accents are acceptable.
- Intermediate and Advanced dancers should bring soft jazz shoes (preferably black) to class.
- Students must wear all black to each class. Black yoga pants, black leggings, black tank tops, black t-shirts, and/or black leotards are acceptable.
- Performance Attire & Costume Fees:
- Certain base items (leotard, shoes, tights, etc.) will be needed for performances. A precise list will be given out during the semester prior to the show.
- You will be notified of the additional costume fee once the show is set and casting has been given out.
- Conflict Form:
- Parents must fill out a conflict form with their child’s scheduled conflicts and return it to Applause by the first rehearsal.
- Casting:
- Once auditions are completed and a dancer is accepted/registered, they become an official member of the Applause Dance Company. Each level—Junior, Intermediate, and Advanced—has multiple casts. The ADC Manager will determine which cast a dancer is placed in based on their skills, strengths, and overall development to ensure the best possible experience and success for every student. Casting decisions are final and will not be changed.
- Attendance Requirement:
- Students MUST attend tech week/production dates to be eligible for the program. Students may not miss more than 2 pre-planned classes or their role may be compromised.
- Applause may make changes of any nature at any time and from time to time to its classes, calendar, schedule, standards, policies, requirements, rules, and procedures whenever Applause deems it necessary or desirable in connection with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. This may include, but is not limited to, changes in modes or methods of delivery of classes, modifying or rescheduling classes, and requiring compliance with new, additional, or modified standards, policies, procedures, or rules intended for the protection of the health and safety of our community. If guidelines for room capacities change, cancellations will be made to the last students registered.
Junior, Intermediate, & Advanced Musical Theater Performance Classes, Weekday Int. Musical Theater Lab & Concert Reading Class:
- There are no make-up classes for our musical theater performance program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: There will be no refunds or credits given for our Junior, Intermediate, or Advanced Musical Theater program.
- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class.
- Parents must fill out a conflict sheet with your child’s scheduled conflicts and return it to Applause by the date given by the stage manager.
- Students MUST attend production dates to be eligible for the program. Students may not miss more than 2 pre-planned classes or their role may be compromised.
- Applause may make changes of any nature at any time and from time to time to its classes, calendar, schedule, standards, policies, requirements, rules, and procedures whenever Applause deems it necessary or desirable in connection with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. This may include, but is not limited to, changes in modes or methods of delivery of classes, modifying or rescheduling classes, and requiring compliance with new, additional, or modified standards, policies, procedures, or rules intended for the protection of the health and safety of our community. If guidelines for room capacities change, cancellations will be made to the last students registered.
Film (Little Movie Stars, Make Your Own Movie):
- There are no make-up classes for our film program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund less a $75 cancellation fee will be given if Applause is notified 24 hours after the first class of the semester. After this point in time, we are unable to offer any kind of refund.
- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class.
- All parents/students will be required to hand in a conflict sheet noting any scheduled absences throughout the semester.
- All parents/students will be required to fill out a minor talent release before the first day of class.
- Applause may make changes of any nature at any time and from time to time to its classes, calendar, schedule, standards, policies, requirements, rules, and procedures whenever Applause deems it necessary or desirable in connection with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. This may include, but is not limited to, changes in modes or methods of delivery of classes, modifying or rescheduling classes, and requiring compliance with new, additional, or modified standards, policies, procedures, or rules intended for the protection of the health and safety of our community. If guidelines for room capacities change, cancellations will be made to the last students registered.
Film (Make Your Own TV Series, Filmmaker Experience, Audition Technique, Animation Voiceover):
- There are no make-up classes for our film program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: There are no refunds for the Make Your Own TV Series, Filmmaker Experience, Audition Technique, or Animation Voiceover classes.
- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class.
- For our Film Editing class, students are required to have a laptop, charger, and Adobe Premiere Pro each week.
- All parents/students will be required to hand in a conflict sheet noting any scheduled absences throughout the semester.
- All parents/students will be required to fill out a minor talent release before the first day of class.

After-School Theater & Dance (including dance & vocal technique):
- There are no make-up classes for our after-school program. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help.
- Pre-School Classes will be allowed 2 scheduled make-up classes throughout the semester, pending availability.
- In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund less a $75 cancellation fee will be given if Applause is notified 24 hours prior to the second class of the semester. If we are notified of the cancellation later, we are unable to give any kind of refund or credit. Please note that this does not include Private Groups.
- There are no refunds or credits for Private Groups.
- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class.
- Students must wear appropriate attire for class.

ADC Elite Competition Team:
- Competition Weekend Requirement:
Students MUST be available for the ENTIRE competition weekend to be eligible for the program. - Conflict/Contact Form:
Parents must fill out a Conflict/Contact form with their child’s scheduled rehearsal conflicts and return it to Applause prior to the first day of class, communicating in advance all absences (if any) for the semester. These will be considered excused. - Attendance Policy:
- Please keep excused absences to 1 or 0 for the semester.
- More than 1 excused absence may result in removal from sections of the routine that are missed.
- Any absences not communicated in advance on the Conflict/Contact form will be considered unexcused.
- 1 unexcused absence may result in removal from sections of the routine that are missed.
- More than 1 unexcused absence will result in removal from the ADC Elite Competition Team.
- Private Lessons:
There are no make-up classes for the ADC Elite Competition Program. We encourage your child to attend all classes. Private lessons are available for an additional charge if extra help is needed to catch up on choreography. However, absences will likely affect a student’s placement in formations in the routine, in the best interest of the team’s ability to practice/rehearse together. - Student and Parent Conduct Expectations:
Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence (including conduct or influence of a parent), in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the class. - Placement Policy:
- Once auditions are completed and a dancer is accepted/registered, they are officially part of the ADC Elite Competition Team. A placement evaluation will determine which team is the best fit. Placement decisions are final and will not be changed once determined by the Elite Manager. We carefully consider each dancer’s skills, strengths, and overall development to ensure the best possible experience and success for each student.
- Dress Code:
- Students must wear all black to each class.
- All dancers should have athletic sneakers or jazz sneakers, preferably in black. White, silver, or gray accents are acceptable.
- Uniform ADC teamwear will be required for all competition weekends. Teamwear options will be available for purchase via links provided by the ADC Elite Competition Team Coordinator.
- Financial Responsibilities:
- Parents are responsible for all competition fees, including but not limited to: costume fees, entry fees, and media packets.
- Parents are also responsible for travel, meals/snacks during competitions, and helping their child at the competition (chaperoning, hair, makeup, etc.).
- Eligibility:
To participate on the Elite Competition Team, students must be registered for the Applause Dance Company (ADC) or a technique class for the semester. Dancers must meet a certain number of training hours per week to compete in certain categories. These requirements are in place to ensure that all competitors receive the necessary technical training to perform at their best, and adherence to them will be a priority going forward.ester to participate on the Elite Competition Team. - Cancellation Policy:

Agent Workshop & How To Audition Workshop:
- There are no make-up classes for the workshops. We encourage your child to attend the majority of classes and we offer private lessons for an additional charge if they require extra help.

- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.

- Participation is for educational purposes only and will not secure or provide opportunity for employment in the field or representation by an agent.

Applause Summer Programs:
- CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund less a $75 cancellation fee may be issued if requested before May 1st, 2025. After May 1st, 2025, no refunds will be given.
- RETURNED CHECKS: A $30.00 fee will be charged for each check returned from the bank for any reason.
- You may switch weeks within the same 2025 summer program up until June 1st, 2025. After June 1st, no scheduling changes are able to be made.
- There are no make-up classes available for our summer programs. In the event of inclement weather, there will be no make-up classes.
- All parents/students in our K-5th Theater & Film summer program will be required to fill out a minor talent release before the first day of class.
- If your child has an allergy please let us know. Also, please call us if there is any issue that you feel we should know about before the program begins.
- We are a nut-free environment. All students should bring a nut-free lunch and snack each day.
- Applause reserves the right to dismiss a student, without refund, whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the Program Director, is not in the best interests of the program.
- All children enrolled in Junior Clubhouse MUST be fully potty-trained and at least three years of age by June 1st, 2025.
- All summer programs are separation classes and no caregivers will be permitted to wait inside the building.
- Applause reserves the right to place students in the appropriate group for their age level, and combine or split age groups according to enrollment each week.
- A detailed letter explaining the summer program policies and procedures will be emailed closer to your child’s summer program week.

- Applause is committed to being a safe and welcoming space regardless of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or socio-economic status. No discriminating acts or remarks will be tolerated by students or parents at Applause.
VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY:
- Filming of any kind is not permitted. Applause reserves the right to film, photograph classes and share footage, movies and photographs on appropriate viewing platforms and for teaching purposes and publicity. Viewing platforms may include, but are not limited to, Applause Theatrical Workshops Inc. social media outlets and YouTube channel.
